Guidelines for Teachers, Students, and Partners

ENLIST places volunteer mentors and speakers from businesses, partnering organizations and higher education institutions into school classrooms and after-school programs.  ENLIST believes in fostering quality relationships among the business leaders, teachers and students. We value diversity in those we serve and respect diversity of our volunteers and mentors.

ENLIST staff encourage the following guidelines for all mentors:

  • Regular and timely communication with mentors, classroom teachers and ENLIST program staff
  • Communication of needs through project coordinator to build a successful collaboration
  • Follow school district volunteer guidelines

K-12 Classroom Teachers

Expectations

  • Initiate meeting with business collaborator at school or place of business
  • Remain in classroom while mentor/guest speaker is with students
  • Responsible for classroom management during mentor/guest speaker visit
  • Completion of Teacher Survey Assessment
  • Create ‘thank you’ to be written by students and sent to mentors following the project

Higher Education Students

Expectations

  • Communication of needs through the program director to build a successful collaboration
  • Review and completion of timeline and needs with the industry partner to bring project to fruition
  • Project documentation through images or video – student-driven project to document learning journey
  • Provide feedback to offer us the ability to build upon the program’s design and give greater service to your colleagues that follow

STEM Industry Partners

Expectations

  • Contact each K-12 school with a request for volunteer conduct standards. All mentors, speakers and business leaders will need to become familiar with school district visitor policies prior to their visit to the classroom and participation in school activities
  • Maintain appropriate relationships with the youth you serve
  • Coordinate field trip to your place of business, when appropriate and available
  • Completion of Industry Partner Survey Assessment
